The Netherlands is bracing for the impact of Storm Austen, which is expected to bring strong winds and unsettled weather conditions to several regions. Yellow weather warnings have been issued for Limburg, Zeeland, and South Holland, where wind gusts are predicted to reach at least 75 kilometers per hour.
The storm is projected to hit southwestern areas and the hills of Limburg first on Friday evening, with strong gusts likely to spread across the country overnight, particularly affecting coastal regions. Residents in these areas are advised to prepare for potentially disruptive weather conditions.
Saturday’s forecast offers a brief respite, with fewer showers and occasional sunshine expected. However, by Saturday evening, heavy rain and stronger gusts are anticipated to return, maintaining the unsettled weather pattern into the weekend.
On Sunday, the strong winds will persist, especially in the northern parts of the Netherlands, where showers are also predicted. Meanwhile, southern areas might experience more sunny spells amid the cooler temperatures, which are expected to peak at around 13°C throughout the weekend.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and are urging people to stay informed about the latest weather updates and advisories to ensure safety during the storm’s passage.
