Anthropic Poised to Rival SpaceX in 2026’s Most Significant IPO Race

Anthropic is positioning itself as a formidable contender to SpaceX in the pursuit of the largest initial public offering (IPO) in 2026. As an artificial intelligence company, Anthropic is witnessing a surge in both revenue and private-market valuation, signaling its potential to go public. Although it has not yet entered the public market, investor optimism is mounting, with speculation that Anthropic might target an IPO as early as the fourth quarter of 2026. The company’s annualized revenue is reportedly projected to hit approximately $65 billion, marking a significant leap from previous figures. Currently, Anthropic holds a private market valuation of about $1 trillion, ranking it among the most valuable privately held tech firms globally. This rapid growth has fueled conjecture that the company could achieve an even greater valuation upon launching an IPO.

Meanwhile, SpaceX has established a dominant position in the 2026 IPO landscape following its own substantial public offering. SpaceX’s IPO was initially priced at $135 per share, leading to an initial valuation of roughly $1.78 trillion. Following its market debut, SpaceX’s shares experienced a robust rise, driving its valuation to exceed $2 trillion, although subsequent market volatility introduced significant fluctuations. The company’s share price later dipped sharply before rebounding, illustrating ongoing investor uncertainty due to its sizable valuation and anticipated future expenditures. Despite this, SpaceX maintains a lead over Anthropic in terms of market value, though Anthropic’s swift revenue growth could help diminish this gap if the company secures a notably higher valuation when it goes public.

The burgeoning interest in artificial intelligence could serve as a catalyst for Anthropic’s growth. The demand for sophisticated AI systems has attracted substantial private investments, fostering heightened expectations for top AI companies’ valuations. While OpenAI is also viewed as a potential IPO candidate, it currently does not pose as strong a challenge to SpaceX for the title of the largest IPO of the year as Anthropic does.

For Anthropic, the critical factor will be the valuation it achieves when it officially declares its public offering. With its current private valuation standing at about half of SpaceX’s market value, Anthropic would need to secure a significant valuation boost to surpass the aerospace company. Should Anthropic’s revenue continue its rapid ascent and investors assign a much higher valuation at the IPO, the company might eclipse SpaceX and clinch the title of the largest IPO of 2026. As it stands, SpaceX holds the lead, but Anthropic is swiftly emerging as one of the most closely watched IPO candidates for the year.
